Poland’s economic miracle continues EBRD’s latest Regional Economic Prospects May 2025

Poland stands out among the nine Central European and Baltic countries for its strong growth outlook for this year and next!

According to the EBRD’s latest Regional Economic Prospects, Poland stands out among the nine Central European and Baltic countries for its strong growth outlook for this year and next, supported by several key factors:

  • Scale and diversification – As the largest economy in the region, Poland enjoys greater diversification and is less exposed to sectoral shocks (e.g. automotive exports) than smaller neighbouring economies.
  • Investment accumulation – Public investment, particularly in renewable energy and transport infrastructure, has surged due to the delayed implementation of the National Recovery Plan, creating a near-term boost to growth.
  • Defence spending as opportunity – When military expenditure includes broader investments in security, infrastructure and energy independence, it can strengthen long-term competitiveness and make debt less risky.
  • Potential consumer upside – With household incomes rising faster than spending, there is room for a rebound in private consumption as confidence improves.
